The People’s Candidate for Commissioner

After a career in public service, Walter J Scott is running for re-election as County Commissioner to serve the citizens of Onslow County. Here are five reasons he is running for office.

Commissioners should be Available to the Public they Serve.

Walter is committed to ensuring an “Open Door Policy” is more than lip service. He will make a consistent and concerted effort to remain available to the citizens of Onslow County during his campaign and after election. Access to local leaders and open communication is essential to successful leadership in local government.

Address Short-term and Long-term Needs in Capital Investment Plan (CIP).

The Board of Commissioners must freeze capital fund spending until we establish a precise fund balance and establish capital fund spending priorities that will better serve the needs of citizens of Onslow County today and tomorrow.

Initiative-taking Partnerships between Commissioners, Municipalities, Rural Areas, and Communities.

Walter is committed to proactively developing partnerships within Onslow County. These partnerships will be essential in building the future for Onslow County and ensuring the success of programs for youth, adults, and senior citizens.

Develop and Strengthen Volunteer Programs That Encourage Youth to Explore Careers as First Responders.

Walter supports all programs encouraging our youth to explore careers in EMS, Volunteer Fire, and Law Enforcement. For securing the safety of our communities, Walter believes we need a benefit package to support our volunteers.

No Additional Programs or Initiatives that Require Funding from Taxpayers.

Walter supports the Multi-Purpose Complex Project, provided it is funded by private partnerships, and does not add tax burden to property owners in Onslow County.
